The Christian need not be plagued by fear. God has made adequate provision for overcoming anxiety, and we can make steps to keep from being controlled by it.
There are times when we are suddenly enveloped by circumstances (recent global financial crisis) that cause fear to grip our hearts. What should we do when that occurs? Our key - immediately putting our trust in God!
The Lord said, "Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in ME" (John 14:1). Continual reliance on our Deliverer puts up a shield against the haunting fears that would otherwise disturb us.
So whether we turn to God in an emergency or confidently accept each circumstance as coming from His hand, our ever-present Savior is more than sufficient to speak sweet peace to our souls. (DB)
