DISCONTENT is one of our worst enemies. The insatiable appetite for more possessions, the relentless desire to get ahead, and the driving urge to outdo others all lead to unhappiness.
There's nothing wrong with trying to improve our situation in life, as long as we first establish the right values. But if we expend all our efforts simply keeping up with someone else, we should reevaluate our goals. We must learn to be thankful for what God has given us, and to be content with what we have. Only then will we realize how green the grass is on our own side of the fence!
"Contentment comes not so much from great wealth as from few wants."
